The resort of Marbella is perhaps best known as a favourite resort with the rich and famous. Many of the international jet-setters have bought luxurious villas here and spend many months relaxing and enjoying the famous Costa del Sol weather.
There is an old town which still retains its natural charm with whitewashed houses and narrow cobbled streets. The whole resort has a backdrop of the magnificant Sierra Blanca mountains.
One of the most famous landmarks in Marbella is without doubt the famous marina area of Puerto Banus where the rich and famous moor their million pound water palaces. You can enjoy a drink at one of the marina bars and people watch although beware at a price as these bars charge a high premium for their wonderful location.
The whole resort of Marbella enjoys perhaps some of the finest of Costa del Sol's hotels although recently a number of Costa del Sol apartments have become popular with the middle market clients.
There are a number of smaller beaches in the resort although these are often hard to find as they are not signposted which makes the larger main beach quite crowded in high season.
Shopping in Marbella is made up of classy chic boutiques although you can find some delightful smaller shops in the winding streets of the old town.
Eating out in Marbella is as you would expect quite expensive but there are a wide variety of restaurants. It is possible to find some cheaper beach restaurants serving traditional paella dishes.
Nightlife in the resort is centred around the nightclubs many at Puerto Banus along with the famous casino.
Daytime activities often revolve around the many fine golf courses in the area although there are a variety of tennis courts and watersports available.
This resort is perhaps best suited to couples or golfers who like to sample good accommodation combined with a renowned resort.
