Mijas Costa is the name given to the beach areas of La Cala and Calahonda nestled between Fuengirola and Marbella. La Cala beach has been awarded the prestigious "Blue Flag" award and has a wide variety of watersports available. Calahonda has a large ex-pat British population and was once known as the English Village on the Costa del Sol as British Doctors, dentists and a wide range of imported British foods could be readily obtained.
Mijas Costa has lots of small coves and pretty beaches and also boasts some of the Costa del Sol's most famous golf courses.
Certainly worth a visit is the pretty white village of Mijas Costa nestled in the mountains above Mijas Costa and Fuengirola. Spectacular views of the coast await you combined with the narrow cobbled streets and geranum window pots so typical of these little Andalucian villages. Local crafts from Mijas include linen and wicker items and not to mention the locally made bread and honey.
